The centerpiece of Springfield’s community life has to be Lake Accontink Park. Here you can rent a canoe or a rowboat and spend the day on the lake. You can take a tour boat ride, or do some fishing. There is a large miniature golf course, an antique carousel, and plenty of places to picnic inside pavilion shelters. There is a playground, a volleyball court, and a basketball court, as well.

This annual community-wide celebration takes place every year the weekend following Memorial Day. It features the FamilyFest, with games, rides, food, and fun for the kids. There is the annual Springfield 15k/5k/run/walk. If you are an animal lover, you will definitely want to check out PetFest during Springfield Days. The ArtFest adds an air of culture and refinement, and features exhibitors as well as live entertainment. There is even a Cardboard Boat Regatta at Lake Accontink Park, one of the most interesting and wacky events in the entire metro D.C. area.
There are many dining options in Springfield, as well. If you want Mediterranean food, you can visit Kabul Kabob Restaurant. If Thai is your thing you can visit the Thai Café. You will find Tex-Mex food and friendly service at the Austin Grill. There is also a bevy of delis, pizzerias, coffee shops, pubs, and more.
